A Glimpse of a Transformed Church

Hebrews 10:25a
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;

At an evangelism event, Steve witnesses to a young man named Billy who give his life to Jesus. On the following Sunday, newly saved Billy walks in to Steve's church for the first time. Even though Billy is touch by God's Spirit through both what he hears from the sermon and from the music on stage, the thing that impresses Billy the most is what he sees in the unity of everyone in the seats.

He sees that there is something genuinely different about the people around him. He sees that their excitement is not about the music (like in the rest of the world), but that they are truely worshiping God. He sees people praying and even singing in tongues which seems a little weird but also intrigues him. He sees that there is order and respect not only in the event of the service but in the lives of the people. There is an atmosphere of freedom as if the roof had been torn off and all of Heaven is completely open to him and everyone else in that place.

After service, he sees small groups of people holding hands and ferverently praying together. This further intrigues him and he's curious to know what is happening inside these people.

Then someone introduces themself to Billy. He notices a mature quality about them that is deep, genuine, comfortable and welcoming. In fact, Billy is able to immediately connect with this person because they show a true care and interest in him. He is able to open up freely with them because, he feels like they were speaking his native language.

In a way, this is somewhat similar to the day of Pentacost (Acts 2). Back then, the people that were witnessing the event, were able to hear and understand, in their own native language, as the disciples spoke in diverse tongues and were giving praise to God. Billy is experiencing something like that in his heart, because his spirit is sensing and seeing the Kingdom of God in the believer he is talking to. Billy is amazed how he is hearing God through that believer. Billy's heart is drawn further towards the Kingdom of Heaven, as old dreams that were deep inside of him, are revived in a new way.

just as God has placed a specific signature of His Kingdom within all of us, Billy has found a place where the Kingdom of God is released within him and he can tangiably feel the power of God's Love. Billy is found a place where Life is shared and celebrated vertically with God, and horizontally with each other (Matthew 22:36-40, John 13:35).

Billy's hope is dramatically increased because he can feel God's destiny in his life (even though he does not yet know, what that is). The light of God has not only turned on inside him, but is getting stronger, and he cannot deny it.

Because he has begun to see his destiny in the Kingdom of God, Billy is more hungry than he has ever been for the Living Truth that makes him free indeed.

Then Billy asks about the discipleship training, and almost anyone that has been going there is able to direct him (if they aren't already going there themselves). Billy is pleased to find that there was both training activities and mentors available directly after the service which allows him to grow at his own pace (fast or slow). Being hungry for more, Billy was able to immediately participate in one of the training activities and also found a mentorship team (of two or more) to help him with his progress through their discipleship program.

All the way home, Billy prayed with joy in his heart. When he got home, he grabbed his Bible so he could highlight the scriptures that one of the mentors suggested he memorize. Then he went to his computer and logged on to the Discipleship Training Program to begin the first module...

One year later, another newly saved young man named Tom, found a mentor to help him grow in the Lord. The mentor's name was Billy.
